Please be aware that although we try very hard to keep the calender up to date we do not organize the races ourselves and are not responsible for any changes that might occur.

  5. Hi! We would love to do a race while we are visiting. There are three we are looking at but I can’t find a 2016 registration form for any of them. The three we are interested in are: Armannshlaupio on July 6; the Adidas Boost Race on July 27; and the Dettifoss Trail Run on August 6. Can you please tell me how to register for these? Thank you!

  7. Hi Jennifer !
    Registration for the Dettifoss trail run opens on 1st April on the race homepage.
    The other ones will only open registration about a week or two before the race. Last year the Adidas Boost was online only registration but the Armann you could register for on the spot. For those two you don’t need to worry about the races filling up. Drop us a line a week or so before the race and we will send you a link or an email address.
    Te Dettifoss Trail has limited places though, so you should register early for that. If you have trouble registering just let us know and we will help !

      1. All the distances start on the 6th August. The exact time I do not know, last year the 13K started at 13.00. To get to the start you have to show up early however as it is an hours drive from Asbyrgi. They will publish full details closer to the race.

I just wanted to verify that the ‘6.7.2016 Ármannshlaupið – Powerade summer run series 10 Road race Reykjavik’ is a 10k on Wednesday, July 7th that you register for. And if so, how do you go about registering? Thank you!

      The race is on Wednesday July 6th. Online registration is not yet open, it will probably open in May or June. You can send us a message closer to the race and we will send you a link or an email address.
      It will probably also be possible to register at the location of the race before the start (last year from 17.00-1930 with the start at 20.00)

  10. I will be in Iceland Jan-24-2017 till Feb-2-2017 for the 75th Hamilton (WPG 34) Memorial. The actual Memorial is Sunday the 29th. By chance is their a 5k in Reykjavik on the 28th? I’ll be traveling from Orlando, Florida.

      We don’t have any confirmed dates for 2017 but in recent years there has been a 5K race on the last Thursday of January in Hafnarfjordur, only 10 minutes away from Reykjavik.

        Can I get a bit more clarification. What time does the race start and where is the sports center in Borgarnes? I’m from Canada and will be in Iceland for the first time in November, so I’m not familiar with Borgarnes yet. Is this just a fun/exercise run or are there finisher and place medals given out? Is this run on a roadway or a track? Thanks again for all your help.

      2. Hi Sandra.It is a low key race with realtively few participants. It is a road race and it is timed, but I don’t think there will be finisher medals. We haven’t taken part in the race so I don’t have too many details.

    1. Hi Debbie.
      There might be a race on the 11th Dec in Hafnarfjordur, 15 mins from Reykjavik. However, it is still unconfirmed but that is not uncommon with smaller Icelandic races and registration might not be open until a week before the race. It is a about 9.7km long, called Kaldárselshlaup.
      Last year a couple from UK that we helped took part, and i remembered there was an interview with them after the race, you can find it on this page http://hlaup.is/displayer.asp?cat_id=1226

    1. Hi Paula, I am not sure when it will open. It might be a month or two until it does but maybe sooner. You don’t have to worry about the race filling up though, you will be able to register with very short notice. It’s a fun race, we totally recommend it !

  31. Hello, I have recently signed up for The Iceland Run 10K taking place on July 8, 2017. I do not see any specifics on the actual race course or any detailed information about the organizing group called Alpine High Events.I went to their website but their is virtually no information about them as a professional event company to validate them. I have emailed them but gotten no reply as of yet. Could anyone confirm for me that this is a legitimate event?
    I am coming over from the US to run this event (while vacationing), so it would be great to be able to confirm that it is in fact happening.

    1. Hi Rebecca. Unlike most other races in Iceland, this one seems not be locally organized. We don’t know this company although we saw their ads about the race.
      We have sent a few emails to them and others as well about this but haven’t gotten any useful replies yet. But we will let you know when we hear anything,

Hi there, I’m also one of those folks that registered for the Iceland Run 10K in Vik (Jul 8) and am very curious if the race is legitimate as I’ve also not received any response from the organizing company.   34. Hello, after having attempted numerous times to reach Alpine High Events and still getting no response I had to conclude that this entire event is bogus. I have also attempted to report it to EventBrite (the ticketing agency) and they were completely useless. Ultimately I filed a dispute with my credit card company. It completely baffles me how people’s minds work to think of scamming people this way! 😦 I have been very sad as I too was really hoping to run a race while in Iceland, and perhaps that may still work out. We have already booked our little cottage in Vik for the 7th and 8th so I don’t think I will be able to do anything near Reykjavk, but I would still love to know more about the potential event just in case!
    Niya, I might recommend that you too contact EventBrite and/or your credit card company. Perhaps you might be more successful that I was in getting a helpful response? 🙂

Will also contact Iceland Tourism or whoever runs the official http://www.iceland.is website, as they are advertising this fake event. Will also tweet about it.
      Running in Iceland, maybe you could warn your FB & Twitter followers about this scam. Looking forward to hearing about the trail race in the works near Reykjavik. We’ll be based in city that weekend, so hopefully, can sign up for that instead. Thanks again.

    1. We don’t have all the details yet. It is a local organizer, a trail race that is planned to start “near” Reykjavik (the Reykjanes peninsula) and finish at the nautholsvik geothermal beach in Reykjavik.

    1. Hi Doug, the only race planned is a 1km/5km “cross country” race in Reykjavik. Still unconfirmed though both date and location. Usually a low-key race with 15-30 participants.
